Yarn and hook
I crocheted Wicked Flying Monkey in fingering weight mercerized cotton with a 2.0 and 2.5 mm hook, which gives the 8 in / 20 cm flying monkey in the photos. Any yarn weight works here: the pattern is the same, and a heavier yarn with a bigger hook simply gives you a bigger flying monkey. Match the hook to whatever you already have in the cupboard.
